Formed in 1914. This battalion was raised in Brandon and Winnipeg with some recruits attending from Kenora & Port Arthur Ontario, with headquarters in Val Cartier Quebec.. Sailed for England inOctober of 1914 and served in France and Belgium with the 2nd Infantry Brigade, 1st Canadian Division.. Served under command of one Lt. Colonel L.J. Lipsett.Became known as the "Black Devils". A rare find for the collector of Canadian CEF badges.
