You are viewing a rare WWI era CEF cap badge 50th Alberta Regiment . There are two known types of 50th badges; this one is of the "provincial shield" variety, the other is the "leaf" design. This badge is made of shiny brass, and quite free of any oxidation or discoloration...A clean original piece ... This 50th Battalion Cap Badge has both original lugs intact and in good order and comes with a green felt backing as found. It is also hallmarked "C&S co 112 Regent St".This was the badge worn by our CEF volunteers when in Alberta... The other style was used by the unit in Europe.

The Battalion was raised in Calgary Alberta and 1077 members sailed for France on October 27th 1915. They served in France and Belgium throughout the War, as part of the 10th Brigade of the 4th Canadian Division.
