You are viewing a CEF WWI era Canadian 54th "Kootenay" Battalion collar badge. Made of stamped copper, with two brass tang type fasteners. Both are intact, original, and in good order. Very good condition, complete with no chipping or damage to the design features. Has an interesting scrolling design which holds the "Canada" designation...
The 54th was raised in Southern British Columbia during the summer of 1915. They were off to England on Nov. 22nd 1915. A large contingent of 1147 officers and men. They served in France with the 4th Infantry Brigade 4th Canadian Division. In 1917 this battalion was renamed the 54th Central Ontario battalion, most likely due to the re-enforcements it received due to casualties were mostly from Ontario...
