Here you can see the scans for this WWI 53rd Battalion cap badge we are offering at this time. This example originally had the small tang type attachments. They either broke off, as is very possible with those flimsy mini tangs, or some previous owner had the badge re-lugged, and as you can see both lugs have been re-soldered. Therefore we are discounting it to the buyer. A "pickled brass" o/r cap badge, with very nice patina giving evidence to its age. Excellent for display.
Formed during the summer of 1915 and headquartered i n Winnipeg, these prairie boys, lead by Lt. col. Dennistown, trained through the fall and winter and with a force of 1098, (one of the larger battalions of the CEF), sailed for England on March 29th, 1916. The battalion was later to become part of the 15th Canadian Reserve Battalion...
