Above, you can view the scans of this 3 peice grouping of WW2 era Seaforth Highlanders Cap badge Shoulder Flash & Button-holer. The badge is a white-metal construction, with both lugs intact. The button-holer pin is plated metal with some red enameling on the crown and scrolling. The shoulder flash is an exquisitly preserved WWII era felt patch with cheesecloth backing, From a collection with some glue residue, but displays beautifully.
In WWI the Seaforths fielded 2 CEF batallions, the 72nd Battalion (Seaforth Highlanders of Canada), and the 231st Battalion (Seaforth Highlanders of Canada),
At the beginning of WWII, the regiment mobilized The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, CASF for active service on 1 September 1939. They embarked for Britain on 20 December 1939. On 7 November 1940 it was redesignated the 1st Battalion, The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. Later in the war the battalion landed in Sicily on 10 July 1943 and in Italy on 4 September 1943 as part of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Canadian Infantry Division. On 14 March 1945, it moved with the 1st Canadian Corps to North-West Europe as part of "Operation Goldflake", where it fought until the end of the war. On 1 June 1945, a second Active Force component of the regiment was mobilized for service in the Pacific theatre of operations designated as the 2nd Canadian Infantry Battalion (The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada), CASF.21 This battalion was disbanded on 1 November 1945. The overseas battalion was disbanded on 31 October 1945. The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada is presently a Canadian Army Reserve infantry regiment based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The regiment is subordinate to the 39th Canadian Brigade Group, 3rd Canadian Division. It is based at the Seaforth Armoury in Vancouver. Tthe regiment serves in both times of war and civil emergency, such as disaster relief after earthquakes or floods.
