Above this note are the scans for this WWI 216th Batallion cap badge. (Copper composition) This beautiful example is complete with both lugs. A clean browning copper o/r badge with very nice patina giving evidence to its age. A beauty for any collector of Canadian CEF badges.
Formed in mid 1916. This battalion was raised in Toronto, Ontario, with headquarters in Toronto. The men who formed this battalion were too short for the regular inlistment requirements. That is why they were known as the "Toronto Bantams". As the war continued they became recognized and accepted fully as pat of the proud Canadian fighting men. The 216th Battalion (Bantams), CEF was authorized on 15 July 1916 and embarked for Britain on 18 April 1917. Upon arrival, its personnel were absorbed by the 3rd Reserve Battalion, CEF on 5 May 1917 to provide reinforcements to the Canadian Corps in the field. A beauty for a shadow box, memento, or for collection purposes.
Guaranteed 100% genuine.
