Above are the scans for this excellently preserved 100 year old bayonet from WWI era. It is a Quebec made bayonet for the Ross rifle dated 1907. This bayo is totally functional and still in very cleasn condition. Its scabbord is also nicely preserved for being well over 100 year old leather. The blade has been sharpened by it's owner so as to be able to "pierce" the German greatcoats. An ecellent piece for the serious collector of WWI Canadian heritage. C-broad arrow marked and dated. (The story goes that the shape of the issue blade of this bayonet was so poorly made, that when first used it was found to be so dull that it
would not go through the enemy soldier's great coat uniform. I would have hated to be the one to find that out in trench war close combat. In any case the word went around through the troops,
and consequently these various "custom" formats of the blades points, on these bayonets, began to appear, as each soldier in the trenches would try to shape his bayonet to be a more effective
killing machine.)
