Above are the scans for this WWI 53rd Battalion collar badge we are offering at this time. This rare example has one remaining original small tang type fastener as found. An age browned copper" o/r cap badge, with highlights still clear and distinct. Nice patina giving evidence of its age.
Formed during the summer of 1915 and headquartered i n Winnipeg, these prairie boys, lead by Lt. col. Dennistown, trained through the fall and winter and with a force of 1098 members , one of the largest battalions of the CEF, sailed for England on March 29th, 1916.
