You are viewing an exceptional example of a rare pre WWI large brass badge for the 1st Mounted Rifle Battalion. The badge is an excellent copper example of an inlisted ranks cap badge. Having come from a collection, the lugs, though still original and intact, were slightly "pinched" for display purposes. This slight problem is quite fixable. Appart from that the badge is excellent.

The First Mounted Rifles were organized in Brandon Manitoba, during March of 1915. The volunteers came from across Western Canada. The battalion served in France from September of 1915 throughout the war until the 1918 armistice.
