Note the"Canadian Scandinavians" name which appears at the bottom center of this excellent badge.This battalion was raised in Manitoba with headquarters in Winnipeg.This was a small battalion. (fewer badges). 524 members of the 223rd sailed for England on May 3rd 1917. Upon arrival they became part of the 11th Reserve Battalion supplying re-inforcements to other battalions fighting in France.
