Above are the scans for this rare WWI CEF 249th Infantry Cap Badge. (Brass composition). This badge is consequently quite rare. A beautiful crisp example of this badge, with a straight pin style attachment which may indicate an officer grade badge. Very nice patina giving evidence to its age. A rare beauty for the discerning collector of Canadian CEF badges.


This unit was formed in 1916, from volunteers from Saskatchewan's Regina area. However they did not reach England until February of 1918. This was a small battalion of some 726 men. Upon reaching England they were absorbed into other battalions.
